Yours and Patty's ideas (and/or variations of any of them) sound great, but if I had some real maple syrup, I would probably save it all for pancakes and waffles. And I probably wouldn't share any of it either.
OK, having said all of that, I'd make sure that none of the other ingredients came anywhere close to overpowering the maple syrup.
