Totally agree with the "hot and fast" aspect but I like to give mine about 30 minutes of relatively cool smoke first just to infuse a wee bit of smokiness throughout the meat. This is often called the "reverse sear" approach.
Another huge improvement in steak cookery is the Grill Grate thingy which moves the "sizzle" right up under the meat and adds even more grilled flavor to the profile.
I remember doing some great steaks on my hibachi years ago but now I ramp my pellet cooker up to about 650-700.
