I agree more than you know. I understand a team's desire to make their box(es) look different from the "same-ol, same-ol." Over the years, I've seen and have pix of boxes that I show to newbie teams that take appearance to edges perhaps unintended. Do they look nice? Sure! But, I always come down on the side of "it's so easy to make a nice looking box without getting so far out on the cutting edge of acceptability, that it's not necessary to create the possibility of a question about the appearance of your box, or even a DQ. "Off the wall" boxes are fun to see, but as anyone who's judged very much knows, as soon as any one judge questions the legality of a box, the box's' appearance score is immediately tainted, no matter how the Rep rules as to legality.
