Ken -- If doing a frozen "store bought" turkey, I don't brine because it is already shot full of sodium and other stuff. I do, however, inject it with a mixture of chicken broth, garlic powder, butter and onion powder. Heat the mixture to get the onion and garlic dissolved and butter melted. If you are going to take the bird straight to the pit it is OK to inject with the warm mixture. But, If you plan to delay the cooking, cool the injection mix. Don't want to create a breeding ground for them little sickness critters.
