well, our season has officially ended when the iowa bbq society gives away trees and food in des moines. this year was great. 45 minutes to go through around 1000 pounds of pork, 4-500 breakfast sandwiches, coats, hats, trees, Christmas lights, baked goods, candy, toys, and more. we were even able to provide 800.00 toward the purchase of bus tokens. bus tokens are not something i would have thought of, but i guess there is a real need. particular thanks go out to the kcbs(fantastic grant!), iowa select farms, cookies, smokey ds', hy vee, iowa state, and of course the iowa bbq society.
now its going to get cold and snow. its pretty sad to think about how some people still have to go through life, for whatever reasons. i'm glad we can help a little. one cool thing i saw. larry halbrook dropped off 150 sets of new Christmas lights. it was enough to go on every tree we had. i notice hes' not in the smoky angel hall of fame. think i'll change that. have a great Christmas,
ps-hope the slide show works. some free site i found. brets giving me grief for the snow :)
