A lot of issues when the temp bounces around has to do with the ground on the FEC. The FEC's use a thermocouple which measures millivolts for the temperature and if the cooker does not have a good ground there can be stray voltage which will affect the temperature. I have issues at contests where they have bad grounds. The Traeger controllers ground the controller on the faceplate which may not always provide a good connection. Clean electricity is the only real problem I run into with the FEC's.
