Your picture looks like the one I've seen in the past. The ring/fuse is longer, and it has three rings of coals. Looks like your bottom grate is about half open. I'm thinking the outside temperature would dictate how the bottom vent needs to be set. If it is really cold outside, four rings of coals might be needed instead of three. I've been placing more wood on the fuse, one about every six inches all the way around. Any other details you can give about your set-up would be appreciated. How many lit coals do you start with?
