Corn! Beef used to graze on 'wild' grasses and grains and had GREAT flavor. Now you pay a premium for those kind of cattle. Steroids and 'high calorie' corn and grain along withn other hormones get them bigger, fatter, faster. The cost of mass producing critters to feed a growing planet and fat pockets at the top! The quicker and younger they go to market the less time they have to feed them...turnover for profit and demand....And there is the good fat that has been put on more naturally vs the rapidly put on fat that has less flavor and fine marbling, it looks different too color wise....my2c
