I would think the vast majority of teams spend more than they make. Our team competes in about 10 comps per year, if each comp's entry fee averages $250, plus the meat, plus the traveling costs, plus misc. supplies, we're looking at around $600-$700 per comp easy. Over the course of a season, you better be a pretty good cook and awfully lucky to recoup your expenses OR have some sponsors that help with the costs. Thank God we do or we probably wouldn't be competing as much as we do.
