I couldn't agree more with the senitments expressed here. For better or worse, I Rep a lot, and judge just a little, and I hear the "keep it natural and like real barbecue" a lot...but, when the scores come in, it seems like the candy sticks get the high scores. Similarly, over the years I've seen gorgeous unsauced meat...particularly chicken and ribs, but no matter how beautifullt cooked it is and how well it tastes, it loses on appearance, mostly because it doesn't have that high-sheen finish that candystick meat has. Bummer. Just food for thought. Good Q'en On Ya'. John
