I agree John,what ever started the idea that you ribs,and chicken had to have a shine like a mirror ? I know almost for certain that an awesome tasting,juicy,expertly cooked,dry rubbed rib would be judged down at most comps if it wasn't fully slathered in candy sauce ! Chickens the same way,has to be dunked in candy sauce,and you have to be able to see yourself in the "glaze" or it's scored down right off the bat !
