Again I don't think it's about banning anything or changing any rules but in education. Is round the usual characteristic of a chicken thigh? Should judges deduct points if your are not identical in size shape etc. What rule are you breaking if they are not? If yours is not does that mean your box is less deserving than the box that does? or could both boxes be equally as appealing? Is it possible? Or is the judge scoring your box down because he compared it to the standard of how another cook presented their entry?
There used to be judged who if they saw even just a speck of greenery that may have slipped ever so slightly to not be completely in the box would deduct points. What rule was broken? And the judge was not instructed in judging class to do so.
Another judge in a judging class when asked why they scored the chicken entry so low replied because it was dry. When asked which piece of the chicken did they sample the judge replied oh a piece about this big. The judge couldn't even tell the rep if they sampled a thigh, breast or leg. Think maybe a little education on chicken parts would have been beneficial to the judge to understand what they are judging. It certainly would have been beneficial for the team's score.
