Do Judges know?

We cooked a comp this weekend and a judge we know came up to us after the comp and said he had our brisket. He then explained that it was salty, we let him taste it then and he said yes that was it and described how it was placed in the box. Apparently we have shown him our boxes sometime in the past. This just doesn't feel right and makes me question the integrity of the judging. Not saying it happens but this makes me question if this sport is as straight up as I thought.

What do you judges or competitors think? Could a contest be swayed due to this?
