I once had 4 shoulders AND a package of ribs that were bad. I opened them to trim them all up about 36 hours later and they all stunk the house up something aweful! I tossed them and called the store.
Told them what happened and they said, First, it was over 24 hours since the purchase and therefore will not give me my money back, but if I brought in all the meat they would reemburse me. I told them the meat is rotten (and it went with the garbage man). Honestly, if I still had the meat I don't think I could stand getting the meat to them. The meat/stench was sooo bad! Anyway, I trim meats the day before garbage day so it goes "away" and doesn't ripen in the warm garage.
I was later informed that they had a power outage and closed the store for two days about 1 week before I bought the meat.
I understand they must question this type of thing but they must have been getting a boatload of calls like mine. They knew!
