I could not remember, in the history of the BBQ Forum, any other questions about smoking with elderberry wood. There must be a reason for that, and me best guess was using it is a bad idea. Please read the information on the link below and I don't think you will try it and I strongly advise against it. I have also read that the bark and leaves are poisonous?

The last elderberry wood I used smelt of hamsters.

Seriously, burn some and see if you get a mild sweet smoke. My gut sez it's good.
