Itís always interesting how people are so quick to talk poorly about something, yet do nothing to improve a situation. I guess it easier to bitch about something, than it is to do something positive.

Yes, some of the productions and shows they have come out with are not that good. Especially to some cooks, like the caliber of cooks this site produces. However, the average Joe is not that critical and do watch the shows. The shows, albeit not good in our eyes, do assist in increasing the publicís appreciation and fascination for the sport and culture. People are trying to ride the current popularity of BBQ, which is a good thing. Good for those who compete, vend, have restaurants or cater.

You really canít blame the folks on a show, for I can pretty much say that most people on this forum would take part in a show promoting BBQ.

I too do not like all the BBQ shows that are coming out, yet I do not publicly and more importantly, go on this forum, (where many new to BBQ come), and blast the shows. This not only speaks poorly for the poster, the sport of BBQ, but sadly, for the forum itself. You see, one of the greatest features of this forum is it helps new people get into and enjoy our passion.

There used to be a time when this forum mainly consisted of sharing knowledge and techniques of BBQ with others. Sadly, it now consists of bitching and complaining about one thing or another. Setting a poor example and leaving a bad taste in the mouths of new Qíers, who come to the site for constructive information, learning and guidance.

Now when people ask a question they typically get an answer that has nothing to do with thier question and is written to make the asker feel stupid for asking. Letís get back to the good days, where we shared our experiences, knowledge and skills and kept the complaining in perspective.

A wise boss onnce said, If you bring a complaint, bring a solution to it.

Just one manís opinion.
