I usually figure 1/3 lb per person. So 300 x .333 gives 100 lb cooked product and with a safe figure of 50% loss from cooking you'd need 200 raw weight. I suggest cooking by weights not by how many butts since the weight of butts vary. Not always easy finding 7/8 lb butts in every case. Much safer figuring weight for cooking bulk meat.
