I do not know about making a grill out of it but if I had it I would put ice and cans of beverage in and sit outside on hot days with my feet in it while enjoying the beverages to see if my neighbors had the nerve to ask for a beverage.
My first grill when I lived in an apartment was a steel 5 gallon bucket that I knocked some holes around the bottom for air vents and put a piece of expanded metal on top of it. It worked great for many years until it rusted out.
