It was about this time yesterday that I started feeling a little bit dizzy. Then I started sweating quite a bit and feeling a bit disorganized. I knew I had to get out of the heat quick and cool down.
I spent last weekend at an art show in Kansas City. I was one of the artist there exhibiting my works in this outdoor art show. I was one of the fortunate ones and by the luck of the draw my booth was located in the shade and that was a blessing. Saturday was very hot in Kansas City and I didn't think I could make it out there for about nine hours, but I did really well.
I went back to the final day of the art fair Sunday, and I knew it was going to be another really hot day. I'd been there for about three hours when I started feeling strange and knew I had to get out the heat and cool down. Luckily I was right across the street from a bar and so I went in there and had a big cup of ice with some sprite in it. That was enough to get me straightened up a bit and I went back there and started tearing down my booth so I could get out of there, I was finished. Some of the other artists knew what was happening to me in the came over and help me gather all my stuff up and loaded my car so I got out of there as quick as I could but I have felt really bad for the last 24 hours. I thought I had done everything that I should do. I was drinking lots of water and I made sure that I was taking in a lot salt with my food but it turned out to not be enough and if I hadn't taken action quick I could've been in real trouble
I'm starting to feel much better. So I'm telling you all this just to remind everyone that it can happen anybody anytime when we are out this kind of heat take care yourself and don't overdo it. If you start feeling bad take action quick so you don't get hurt.
