A couple few years ago I drove an hour to get to their location in Nolensville. At that time I ordered a sampler platter since when I go to bbq places I like to try a bit of everything. That visit wasn't good. Best thing I had that day was their tea. The pork I got was that white meat muscle on a butt that is often dry and stringy. I was given the whole muscle. I don't recall anything special about the sides but I know I didn't care for them. Beans seemed to be out of a can I think.

Well the company the boss/warden opened a new store very close to Martin's location in Mt. Juliet. After work today she stopped and got me some bbq from there with hours it would be good. She got the brisket platter with baked beans and potato salad. Sliced brisket was served over grilled Texas toast with a little bbq sauce. Thankfully not smothered. The brisket was just damn good and I wish she bought more! Tender moist slices and the portion was generous. These beans were pretty good this time. Not sure what happened the last time I had them. For our tastes they did have a bit of something that over powered the beans. Not sure if it was green pepper or molasses or both. Of that flavor want present these beans for me were close to perfect. Just difficult getting past that flavor. Potato salad was real and pretty good. We thought it needed more salt but wouldn't pass it up if offered.

I'm having her being me other items the next time she works at that location. Based on my first experience art the other location I wouldn't recommend them but after what I just ate Martin's is now on my list of bbq places I'd suggest to others. She wants to try their redneck taco. When I get up and moving I'm looking forward to going to their Mt. Juliet location. Hope the third try of the bbq is as good as what I just had:)
