I have postulated on a few occasions that such a device or a "robot" could be programmed to judge barbeque, thus eliminating the subjectivity, personal taste preferences, and human mistakes inserted into the judging process. The trouble with that is it wouldn't take long for cooks to figure out how the robot was programmed and get 100% 9's from it. This, of course, would be the end of barbeque contests. So, while a hand-held "calorie counter and allergen detector" might be quite handy (I'd like one) we MUST keep the human element in contesting no matter how much we might whine about erratic and unpredictable outcomes. Just thinkin' . . .
