Jon, Y2K was when I was getting into the comp part of BBQ also. Hardly anyone cooked on a store bought cooker and then it was an ECB. Cooks with a WSM were considered high rollers. My first cooker, back in the early 80's, was an old round top steel frig, gutted, with the fire in the bottom. We used corn cobs for heat and flavor. A much more pleasant and less expensive time for BBQ. First factory cooker I had, besides the ECB, was a Okie Joe I got from Parrothead in about 2005.
