I tried peterN's suggestions to use mirin and half the listed amount of sugar, turbinado instead of white. I used fairly thin pork chops, marinated them all day, then grilled them for about eight minutes with my gas grill as hot as it would get. I also grilled some broccoli and made steamed rice. Turned out to be very good and I'll make it again.
