I love to use a fine slicer but, to be honest, I often use the electric for speed and still get a good cut, even with a close to fall apart brisket -- especially when cutting quantity for a party.
I strongly recommend the Cuisinart electric. I have found it stronger, more long lasting and less destructive of my cutting board, than a couple of others. I think it has to do with the shape of the tip of the slicing blade. It costs more, but...
