I totally understand, as does everybody else, that the source of heat is wood/charcoal. Propane would be an artificial heat source and is seen as an automatic heat supply, hence the fact that it's illegal. Every pit is built with some type of heat chamber and air supply. Wouldn't supplying the pit with both an "automatic" source of fuel and air to feed that fuel constitute an artificial heat source? This is giving pitmasters who use these an unfair advantage, in my humble opinion.
