I don't think you can go wrong with this machine or I wouldn't have written this "endorsement" post. I don't make any money for singing the praise about the WorkSmart. Like I said there is a bit of a learning curve and I would not recommend this for someone who I clumsy with tools. There are moving parts a you are dealing with sharp knives.
I was sharpening one very small pocket knife and got a bit careless. I was not holding the knife as firmly as I should have been holding. The next thing I knew the knife was knocked out of my hand and landed on the work bench, that scared me a bit. So that was a very good lesson learned. Hold the knife firmly and pay attention to what your doing. You should also use safety goggles to protect your eyes.
But it does put a very sharp edge very fast. The edge it puts on a knife is a convex edge and I am sold on the convex edge for knifes.
