Know you described the area as "covered", which sounds like it only has a roof and no side walls, plus you mentioned the overhead exhaust fan.

You might want to bring in someone (local fire dept?, or contractor with expertise) to verify you have adequate ventilation and also sufficient space/installation of the heat the grill will produce to the surrounding cabinets/wall.

Would hate to read a story about a tragedy resulting from inappropriate location.
