In my early youth the only sport I ever cared about was baseball. It was about the only athletic event I was any good at, I thought I was fairly good pitcher. I simply was not very athletically inclined. This was because when I was very young I was a skinny sick kid. Before I got out of grade school I had several serious illnesses including a heart murmur that eventually went away. I continued to really enjoy baseball but in all honesty I was not very good. When a bunch of us kids put together a game and was choosing up the teams I was always the last one chosen and sometimes they would flip a coin to see who had to take me on their team.

Then in 1985 the KC Royals won the world series beating St. Louis for that title. Things went downhill after that. It seemed that every time the Royals developed a good player they traded them off to another team. Soon I didn't even know who was on the team and for many years I completely lost interest in the team. But this year it looked like we had a good team once again and it turned out to be true. The Royal just completed winning eight straight play-off games and and they are going back to the world series again. After all what else can you expect from a team who's stadium is surrounded by some of the best barbecue in the world. Heck, the stadium even has it's own BBQ Pit. On a busy day they can crank out 400 pounds of barbecue! The pit in right field supplies all the smoked meat to the ballpark.
