I agree, my point, to be more precise is that if electronics, guru's and pellet smokers.......are allowed, let the gas assist in too, BUT wood must be used or as I said, it's not BBQ. The other point was that given EVERYTHING else is equal, hard to tell a piece of meat was cooked in a stick, charcoal, gas assist or electric assist.
Yes, controlling a stick or charcoal requires more skill and detail to fire management etc, never have argued that point, it was the way I learned. But my gas assist I use in my back yard puts out as good as anything I've cooked in anything else. Everybody in the pool, or not, one or the other. And we could go on with injectors, moisture retaining chemicals, vacuum tumblers (I have one, love it) and on and on.....Difficult to draw the straight, hard lines when things get so OUTSIDE the lines all the time
