Dr. BBQ's Favorite BBQ Joints" Number 6 on my "Dr. BBQ's Favorite BBQ Joints" list is Kreuz Market in Lockhart, TX. This place is well known as one of the best BBQ Joints on the planet and it deserves it. This is a "new" location but it's been there long enough to get funky and the place is just ultra cool. You walk down a long hall to a room that houses the built in brick BBQ pits exactly like the originals and the legendary chopping blocks where the meat is cut. You belly up to the counter, tell them you want 2 slices of brisket, 2 slices of beef shoulder clod, 2 pork ribs, and a sausage. At least that's what I do. It's quickly weighed up and wrapped in butcher paper. Now you head to the dining hall where you can get a few meaningless sides and a drink then on to the community tables. Don't look for any sauce or forks because they don't have either. I get the "No sauce" thing but think they should get over the fork embargo. But that doesn't keep me from visiting any time I'm near there and eating with my hands. Like many of the old places the food can be a little inconsistent but when it's good it's really good and the experience is always worth the trip.
