I know there is a line between too much smoke and not enough, I've crossed that line many times myself. However my question is, in a KCBS competition is it necessary to be able to taste smoke in order to get a nine in the taste category? It seems in many competitions lately there is a lack of smoke in the entries (and in the air). Too much smoke is bad but isn't some necessary? Thanks for your feedback!
