Just got back from a week next to the river in the mountain valley camping with the family and some of the kids friends (mostly all college aged)... they spent an afternoon hiking into a swimming hole 2 hours away from camp while I stayed at the site with a skillet and fried them up a a pile of bacon, eggs, peppers, bacon, mushrooms, bacon, kielbasa strips, bacon, potato, and more bacon for the kids to make 'breakfast wraps' when they returned from their hike/swim.
The skillet, when I was done with it was nasty enough that I needed to bring it down to the beach, so I toss a few handfulls of sand into it, and scour the skillet by hand to remove the greasy burnt residue, then brought the skillet back to the campsite for regular sink detergent wash.
As I wake up two days later, I realize that my hands felt smoother than they had been in years...then I realized...the smoothness must have been the bacon grease.
Hand lotion ain't exactly a 'guy' thing, so I can't remember the last time I used it, but sand scouring the bacon grease did more for my dry hands than lotion ever did.
