banana cobbler

When I make any kind of cobbler I do it what I say is "the old fashioned way." That I put the batter down first and then the filling on top of it. The filling while cooking rises to the top to form the crust. Has anybody ever made a banana cobbler here? How did it turn out? Did you do it this way? I know this isn't so much a bbq question but I bet it would be a good dessert! I'm experimenting and looking for pointers, ideas, and recipes. )
