I would go lump charcoal on that cooker... and use a few wood chunks along the cook. A couple of chimneys of unlit and add a chimney full of lit. vents and stack wide open untill you get to your desired temp ... leave the vents wide open and adjust the temp with your stack. add a little wood chunk and lump along the way ... this should give you a good clean burn/cook. you might add a pan of water on the rack close to the firebox for moisture... good luck!
