I posted a topic like this a while back and it wasn't take too well. How about a contest with no ELECTRICITY!!! No electric pellet cookers, pits with electric thermostats, Guru's, etc. Makes a guy wonder what would happen to the butt kickers if that was to take place. I often think about one of the finals episode on Pitt Masters, when they took away all their cookers and made everyone cook on a traditional offset. I'll never forget the look on the faces of the guys that had all those "helpers" on their pits. I was taught that the very first thing a cook must master in BBQ was fire management and knowing how to keep a steady temp.

To me running my pit is a huge part of the BBQ experience and makes me appreciate my finished product even more. I know again that this won't be taken well, but oh well. Guys will talk about wanting their sleep and every other excuse thinkable. Again, if you can't master the most IMPORTANT (fire) thing in BBQ, how can you call yourself a pit master?
