Both the NFL and MLB will have to work with the Truman Sports Complex administration along with the Royals and Chiefs to set the date for the Royal.

The AR is usually held the first full weekend of October. The Royals are in town on Saturday and Sunday, October 1 and 2. These are the final two regular season games of the year. So that weekend is out.

The MLB playoffs will be played the following weekend, Friday the 6th through Sunday the 8th. There will be play off games every weekend in October after that. Whether the Royals make the playoffs and where they might be playing those weekend remains to be seen. Last year, the Royals went all the way, playing three different Friday night home games in October. If they do make the playoffs, the schedule is set by Major League Baseball. So all this is up in the air.

To compound the confusion, the Chiefs have not yet released their 2016 schedule. Last year they played Sunday games on October 11 and 25.

So right now, nobody knows when the AR will be. We just know it cannot be held when a Chiefs or Royals game will be taking place on the complex. This all may change in the future. Now there is talk of moving the entire American Royal complex to the Kansas side. If they move the complex, who knows, maybe the BBQ contest will be held there too.

Beers,

Juggy
