The first day was Friday October 6th. and it was a very cool day in KC and I mean cold and windy. It was a cloudy day with the temperature in the 50's and the wind was gusting to around 12 miles per hour. Saturday was however a very nice day and there was a very good crowd. Approximately 35,000 people attended the event.
The Grand Champion winner in the "American Royal/KC
Masterpiece International Invitational" was "The
Slaughterhouse Five" from Westwood, Kansas. The team
members are actual only four people. They are: Jeff Stehney,

People from all over the downtown area could smell the BBQ as it was being prepared for the competition. At the contest, the visitors had the opportunity to purchase Barbecue sauce from all over the country.
