Hello all, and first of all, THANK YOU for all your information, ideas, experience, etc. What a great bunch of folks. I have chimed in and also asked a few questions, so I thought it was time to let you know who this Rickstir is.
I am 53, married for the second time (widower in 94) and I really got it right this time! We live on 80 acres in Paris, MO., which is about 50 miles NE of Columbia, MO. I work in Columbia, for Columbia College as Sr. Pgmr/anal and Adjunct Faculty.
Q'ing experience is limited, but growing. Have a Weber kettle and an ECB which I have found out through this forum I havn't been using right. We are finishing a new home on the farm. I built an annex to the patio, which has a 12 x 14 concrete pad. The roof is 12 X 12 and the last two feet are a footing for a yet to be constructed combination bbq center. The structure will house an alcove for my turkey fryer setup, a smoker similar to Wilbur D. Hog, a grill for steaks, and anther alcove that will house a double washtub. One tub marked BUD, the other BUSCH. It should be a real conversation center when its done.
As my experience grows, we may look at entering some contests. Right now its like Kindergarden and my first test is a pork butt this weekend (5/20/00). Thanks Juggy for the tips. And thanks again to all of you out there. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
